The California State old Time Fiddlers Association was established in 1969 as a non-profit organization for the purpose of perpetuating and preserving old time fiddle music.

This organization now has ten districts in California between the Mexico and Oregon borders. Each district holds monthly jam sessions featuring old time fiddle and country music providing entertainment in family friendly settings. District 5 meets on the second Sunday monthly from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the Grange Hall in Orangevale located at 5807 Walnut Avenue near the corner of Walnut and Madison Avenues.

The “Fiddle Kids” are featured between 2:00 and 3:00 p.m. at the monthly jam sessions. This is always one of the favorite segments of the day’s musical festivities giving kids the opportunity to present their musical talent to an attentive and appreciative audience.

The Grange Hall’s snack bar serves soda pop, coffee, sandwiches, chips and homemade pies and cakes. The snack bar revenue helps support the Fiddle Kids Music Scholarship Program which provides up to 16 free beginning music lessons for kids up to 18 years of age.

There is plenty of free parking available and jam sessions are held outdoors under the oak trees while groups of entertainers are showcased on the stage inside the hall. With few exceptions, all the musicians and singers are non-professionals and always a hit with the audience.

District 5 has about 300 members who pay initial and annual membership dues of $14.00 per single, $16.00 per couple and $2.00 per child. However, visitors are always welcome and given the best seats in the house.

Drop by any time and enjoy the old time music that accompanied the early American pioneers across the “Great USA”.

See you soon.
